Arriving In Style

For most companies, there is a minimum number of hours that are required for a limousine rental, so be warned that you may not be able to rent for only an hour and call it a night.
Love and Marriage go together like a….SUV Hummer? OR is it a horse and carriage?
Hummers, vintage limos, carriage rides; so many rides to choose from, so little time to ride in them.
Although choosing your mode of transportation seems like a minor detail when compared with setting up the entirety of the event known as your wedding, the vehicle you step into to and from your wedding can be a place for you and your bridal party to really enjoy each other and the moment.
Whether you are going for the classic Hollywood ride or the contemporary modern feel, there is a mode of transportation for every couple out there. Try to book your wedding transportation at least 6 months in advance of your wedding date.
To help you find the wheel that fits your deal, Long Island Weddingpages took a road trip, breaking down the transportation choices for you.
There is of course, the matter of the typical stretch limo. Seen in movies, photographs, and known as the absolute classic wedding-day vehicle, the stretch limo has held its place as the most popular in today’s transport for weddings.
The typical stretch limo seats between 9 and 14 people. They typically feature tinted windows, leather interior, and a variety of different features depending on the company.
Besides the traditional limo, many couples these days are anxious to get back to classic, traditional style for their wedding, and this includes the transportation.
For a traditional twist on the stretch limo, try a vintage limousine. These cars are typically for smaller parties and are perfect for the bride and groom to enjoy when leaving the reception.
Occasionally couples want to be in something different, something special and unique. For those couples a white vintage limo is what they want. In addition instead of the traditional limo outfit, the driver sports complete British dress right down to the hat.
There are other options for those brides that want to stray from the limo scene all together. There is always a Lincoln Town Car if you want something different but don’t want to make a huge deal out of it. These cars provide sufficient transportation in style without being fussy. They are simple, classic and subtle.
For a Cinderella ride, try a horse and carriage. Some companies on Long Island offer horse drawn carriage rides for your wedding, a perfect way to step into your wedding ceremony with a part of the past. Most are available for rent during the day and evening, so you can feel like you are whisking away in the serenity of Central Park without ever leaving Long Island.
For a modern take on transportation, try a Hummer SUV. Not only will your future-hubby be a huge fan of this ride, but also you can experience ultimate luxury in this spacious vehicle. Keep in mind; Hummers tend to be more expensive than the traditional limo.
There is also the issue of an exotic car rental. Again, this might be more of a fantasy for your fiancé than for you. You might really impress him if you mention that you want to cruise off into the sunset in a Lamborghini Diablo; just make sure you specify that you are renting the vehicle, not buying it with the down payment you were supposed to put on your house! The only issue with renting a two seat exotic car is that one of you will have to drive it, as opposed to with other rentals where you can relax while someone else takes care of the driving for you.
Although there are many options to choose from, listed below are some questions you might be asked when calling around to different companies:
How many passengers do you have?
What date do you need the services?
Where is the pickup location and drop off location?
Are there going to be any stops and what is the agenda for each stop?
What is your budget?
Will you need to be picked up after the reception?
For most companies, there is a minimum number of hours that are required for a limousine rental, so be aware that you may not be able to rent for only an hour and call it a night.
Also, the maximum number of people allowed in an individual vehicle is the maximum allowed, so if you have two more than allowed, you are going to have to rent another limo. This can increase cost, so try to figure out who you want to be included in the limo service and who may be able to get their own ride to the wedding.
Sometimes members of the wedding party want to bring their dates as well, which can increase the number of passengers. Also, family and other close friends may suggest being included in the fun, so its up to you what you want to do as far as including everyone.
Remember, if you do have a very limited budget it is not unusual to just have wedding transportation for the bride & groom and wedding party to the ceremony and just the bride & groom to the reception. Whatever your means of transportation, make sure that you get to the ceremony on time.
