Give Guests Special Thanks

Your travel weary wedding guests will appreciate a warm greeting at their hotel room. While you’ll be busy tending to last minute details when they arrive, you can still welcome your out-of-towners with a thoughtful, goodie-filled gift basket.

If you’re worried about adding another cost to your already expanding budget, take heart … the baskets don’t have to be large or extravagant. In fact, they don’t even have to be baskets. A paper gift bag filled with treats will be welcomed with as much enthusiasm as a professionally prepared basket. Check the yellow pages under gifts for stores that specialize in gift baskets, or personalize your welcome and create baskets on your own. If you’re inclined to do it yourself, here are a few ideas to get you started:

Do your friends and family like to have a good time? Then pack up a “morning after” basket to help them ward off any lingering pain from last night’s party. Bottled water, aspirin or other pain reliever, a funky pair of sunglasses and a couple of salty snacks will help your over indulgent guests get back into the swing of things.

Treat your guests to a bit of local flavor and give them a basket filled with Long Island delicacies. Perhaps there’s a chocolatier in your area, or a brewery that bottles a fantastic ale or root beer. Is there a neighborhood pastry shop whose scones melt in your mouth? Pack all these goodies up and put them in your basket or bag.

There are numerous other themes and ideas to keep your baskets filled to the brim. With a bit of imagination, a little creativity and a few hours of preparation, your thoughtfulness will be appreciated.
