A Tradition of Luxury and Grandeur

With its rich history dating back over a century, The Garden City Hotel has been host to many famous guests, perhaps none so notable as the numerous brides and grooms who have been raised to celebrity status when they’ve put their weddings in the capable and attentive hands of the hotel’s highly skilled staff. From the complimentary luxurious penthouse suite available for your wedding night to the truly personalized service, The Garden City Hotel pays attention to even the smallest details of your wedding.

“Every bride wants to be the only bride in the state of New York,” said Joseph Borbely, director of catering, adding that The Garden City Hotel treats them as if they are. The key is the privacy afforded each affair, he said. “We can do two parties on two floors with two entrances,” said Borbely, “It’s all very private; one bride will never see another.”

For weddings of up to 500 guests, the newly redesigned chandelier-lit Grand Ballroom is beautifully decorated. Cocktails are served in the elegantly appointed Rotunda leading into the ballroom. The English Gardens offer the ideal scape for ceremonies and picture taking, and the hotel’s Rotunda serves as a comfortable gathering place for your guests when they arrive.

More intimate weddings are given the option of being held in one of the smaller and more private banquet rooms located on both the main and mezzanine levels of the hotel.

A private outdoor patio is a lovely addition for cocktails or dining. A separate kitchen assures perfect food preparation and service.

The menu at The Garden City Hotel is as extensive as your imagination, and the taste and presentation will exceed your expectations. “Each bride and groom and their parents have their own requests and ethnic backgrounds, “ said Borbely. “We guide them and help them, but we love to custom cater,” he said noting any cuisine, including Kosher, may be prepared. Cocktail selections may be served butler style, at stations, or both; dinners are available as sit-down or buffets.

The Garden City Hotel’s award-winning Polo Restaurant and its numerous banquet rooms are ideal options for wedding related functions, such as the rehearsal dinner, bridal shower, bridal luncheon, or engagement party.

“Our service is second to none,” raves Borbely, noting many members of the hotel’s well-trained staff, including the banquet chef, have been with the establishment since it was rebuilt two decades ago after being destroyed by fire. ‘But what sets us apart is our flexibility to truly create any type of party and make it individual from the décor to the menu to the wine selection.”

The Garden City Hotel is located at 45 Seventh Street, Garden City. For the added comfort and convenience of out-of-town guests, group rates for overnight accommodations are available.
